Expectations
The Process
Getting a new puppy is an exciting time, so here is a breakdown of what you can expect throughout the process. When applications are open, you can find them on our Upcoming Litters and Contact pages. We only open applications when we have a confirmed litter on the way, and generally do not keep an ongoing wait list. Once we have received your completed application, we will review it and determine if we think you will be a good match for one of our puppies. A phone interview follows to allow for any final questions (for you or for me!) If accepted, you will be added to our list for the current litter.

Because we believe in matching puppies with their owners based on their personalities, we wait until the puppies are 6 weeks of age for evaluation and to match individual puppies with their families. When we are sure we have a puppy for you, a non-refundable deposit is required that goes towards the final purchase price of your puppy. The remainder of the purchase price is due upon pickup of your puppy. Puppies usually go home between 9 and 10 weeks of age, but no earlier than 8 weeks. Puppies will go home with a puppy starter kit, including:
-
Blanket with Littermates' and Mom's Scents
-
Information Packet

We do not ship or transport our puppies. Puppies will have age appropriate vaccines and dewormings, and will be registered with the AKC prior to going home.
Our Expectations
We feel it is of utmost importance to feel confident in the breeder you have chosen, since we will be there for lifetime support of your dog. In return, we have certain expectations of you when entrusting you with one of our puppies.

-
Veterinary Care
-
We have a core set of vaccines we recommend for all puppies (DAPP, Rabies), and recommend you follow your veterinarian's recommendation for vaccines and/or titers relevant to your puppy's lifestyle and environment. Tollers can be prone to autoimmune issues, so we caution against many vaccines at once. Your puppy should have an annual exam with their vet throughout their lives and keep up to date on heartworm and flea and tick preventions.

-
Nutrition
-
While we do not have a specific food we require you to feed, we do have recommendations. If you want to pursue a homemade diet, we require you do so under the supervision of a veterinary nutritionist, as it is very easy to have detrimental gaps in nutrition when doing it yourself.
-
-
Formal Puppy Class/Training
-
We require all homes to pick a trainer or puppy class they would like to attend with their new family member. Tollers can be independent and strong willed, and we feel it is helpful for all to have that formal training in the beginning to set everyone up for success. I love to see families go on to further training (achieving a Canine Good Citizen title, formal dog sports/activities, etc.) but that is not required.
-
-
Spay/Neuter
-
Puppies sold on a Limited Registration are also sold on a spay/neuter contract, and must be fixed by 24 months of age unless otherwise discussed.
-
-
Right of First Refusal
-
If, for whatever reason, you can no longer keep your puppy, we require you inform us so we can take that puppy back or assist in the rehoming process. We back our puppies for life, and never want to find them in a shelter or rescue. All of my puppies will always have a home here.

-
Updates!
-
While not expressly required, we absolutely love to see how you and your puppy are doing and what you're achieving! It's a highlight of our day, every time. If a severe health condition pops up (chronic allergies, autoimmune disease, etc.) we do request you let us know as soon as possible so we can track the health of the puppies we're producing, and the breed as a whole.

What to Expect of Us
We stand by our puppies for life. If you need advice or help at any point during the lifetime of your puppy, please reach out, and we will be more than happy to assist you. If we don't have an answer, we will work with you to find one.

We provide a 1 year health guarantee against inherited disease. Not every disease or condition can be prevented, predicted, or caught at their first veterinary exam with us, but we do everything within our power to provide you with a healthy puppy, including extensive screenings of our breeding dogs and the studs we choose. This guarantee is either a refund of the purchase cost or coverage of medical expenses up to the original cost of the puppy.
